This Entrepreneur Delivers Happier Aging in Halifax

Nurse Next Doorís brand stands out in the senior care industry and it certainly captured Hendrik Bothaís attention. He is now the Franchise Partner of Halifax! In a previous blog, we showcased how our Hendrik is thriving in the Atlantic Canada region.He was also recently featured in an article of Canadian Franchise Association (CFA) magazineís May/June 2019 issue! In this issue, CFA shone the spotlight on senior care franchises. They discuss the continuous growth of the Canadian senior population and how the demand for the services such as home care and transportation are rapidly increasing and highlight different franchise concepts that help seniors across Canada live happily and healthily.We asked Hendrik to share one of his favorite ìHappier Agingî experiences with a client with us.Hendrikís office is located in a historic building in Halifax, which used to be an old convenience store. One day, an elderly man came in to buy newspaper, thinking it was still the convenience store!

The same thing went on for a couple of days, so Hendrik decided to pick up some newspaper just for him. The senior was extremely pleased and proceeded to ask where they kept the milk. This scenario went on for a week before Hendrikís team was able to contact his family. The gentlemanís family explained that he suffers from short term memory loss and lived just down the street. They thanked Nurse Next Door Halifax for supplying him with his daily fix of newspaper, but mentioned that he often gets lost trying to find a store that sold milk. Hendrik shared the variety of home care services that Nurse Next Door provides: companionship, meal prep, dementia care...just to name a few. The family realized that it could give them a peace of mind! Soon after, the gentleman became a Nurse Next Door client and now his caregiver accompanies him out to the store to pick up newspaper every single day!
